PERFORMANCE VENUES

The NOCCA campus offers some of New Orleans’ best performance and meeting venues.

For performances, few spaces can compare to the stunning 300-seat Freda Lupin Memorial Hall, which offers a soaring proscenium and grand drape, professional lighting and sound systems, a full-sized movie screen and projector, a huge stage (approximately 40′ wide by 30′ deep), a half-fly system, and an orchestra pit with hydraulic cover. Depending on your needs, we can arrange for pianos and other backline items. Lupin Hall has two star dressing rooms (male and female), which can accommodate around eight performers each, plus male and female chorus dressing rooms designed for around 25 performers apiece. Lupin Lobby is a perfect venue for post-show receptions.

Theater and musical performances shine in Nims Black Box Theatre. Like most black box theaters, it features flexible seating, which can be configured for proscenium, alley, thrust, and in-the-round performances and events. Backstage, there are two dressing rooms, which can accommodate about six performers apiece. Nims comes equipped with both sound and lighting systems. (Though as with Lupin Hall, the acoustics are spectacular.)

Smaller performances and meetings fit perfectly in the casual, 90-seat Ellis Marsalis Jazz Studio. It’s conveniently located at the front of NOCCA’s campus, making it easy for guest to access. It’s equipped with a low stage, as well as built in lighting and sound.
